Grim food poisoning incident…..

29 11 2007

Sorry its been a while, we did get back from Dublin on Monday afternoon and I was then at the conference on Tuesday expecting to be able to blog Tuesday night but unfortunately something I ate was no good and I spent the night with my head in a bucket. Thankfully Mum was here to give Ted his night feed as I was paranoid that if I touched him I might pass on the bacteria and it would be dreadful for him to get food poisoning being so small and I think quite dangerous. I felt like hell and lost a few pounds on the way, and I have not been able to sort out my photos from Ireland, so I will put some up on Saturday.

I made a full recovery from the incident by resting up yesterday and was able to go back to the conference today which was great. We are meeting Des and Ron early tomorrow with Ted which will be great and will then be driving up to see Zana and Patrick and Guy for the day. Then on the weekend we will be seeing almost all of the family – Perryman / Gubbins on Saturday and all the Lights on Sunday which is brilliant – and there will no doubt be lots of photos of all the kids to go up next week.

Next week life will abit more back to normal with swimming on Monday, coffee on Tuesday, Swim class on Wednesday and Bumps and Babes on Friday – it will be good to be back to normal for me and for Ted.

The conference – Leaders for London – was very inspiring with brilliant speakers over the three days – which made it all the more galling to have missed the second day – although it has now inspired me to make sure I go back to work and have something to really get my teeth into. I enjoyed the work element of the conference and it has made me sure that going back to work is absolutely what I want to do – but not being away from home – well Ted really for such long days and  overnight last night – although I slept for 7 and a half hours straight which hasn’t happened for a while. At least when I go back I don’t work in central london so don’t need to have such long days.

Well its been a busy week with the Dublin trip and the conference and I will be glad to slow things down a little in the run up to Christmas.

Mollys birthday – Teds on the mend – Mums going downhill

25 11 2007

We have had a lovely time and are heading back tomorrow – have some lovely pics to post next week once I have the connector cable. Ted is doing well – cough is intermittant but not so bad a night and he slept well last night only waking twice so that was good although he did wake early at 0630 and only dozed after that til 8 but we both rested. Molly had her second birthday party today which was lovely and it was great to be here for it. I seem to have a nasty chest and ear infection which is quite painful but have enjoyed myself nonetheless which shows how fab it has been – although I will go to the walk in centre tomorrow night when we get home and I am planning to go to bed in a moment. I am hoping that my ears will clear up and I won’t get a bout of vertigo as it is more common after ear congestion.

Patricks folks have also been here which has been really fun as they are good people, and my pampering continued this morning with a firming seaweed wrap and mam mio moisturising session.

Ted went down without a fuss last night and tonight so I am hoping when we get home it will be even easier in familiar place.

We leave early tomorrow and fly at 1.15 so we should be home by 4. Night night

Ted hits Kilkenny

24 11 2007

We are having a lovely time in Ireland even though Ted has been poorly and I now have his bug. His worst day was when we travelled and he has been gradually improving since then and is almost back to his old self now. His tooth is still coming through and he has been behaving so well – he was a little trooper on the flight even though he must have been feeling rubbish. I now have his cold but it has not stopped me having various hot stone and exfoliating mint scrubs over the last two days – tomorrow is the post baby firming treatment #which is going to have its work cut out.

The hotel was lovely but it is really nice now to be at Patrick and Lisas house and I think Teddy prefers a home style environment. I am about to give him a bath and bedtime story so must dash but will up0date more later or tomorrow.

Ry is fine and out exploring the town and bars of which there are many. However he is on balloon duty later and under instruction to come back sober. Lets hope he pays more attention to Lisa than he does to me!! She got him to change a dirty nappy earlier while I was out so anything is possible.

xxxx from us all

Flying with Ted

21 11 2007

Well its our first flight with Teddy tomorrow adn I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am excited to be going to see Patrick and Lisa and Molly and to be taking Ted away, and nervous about how he will manage with his little ears on the plan and whether he will like it or find it all abit much. Generally he takes everything in his stride though so I am sure it will be fine. Its good as a dry run for our trip to the States too.

Jaques and Helen will be staying while we are away  which is reassuring for us but we would rather their flat hadn’t burnt down so they could still be at home and we will be hiding the hairdryer :o )

We have to leave early so I will be hitting the sack soon. Ted went down at 8 and has been quiet since so fingers crossed we will have another good night like Sunday (9 to 6.30 no feeds) rather than Monday (12.30 / 3.30 / 6.30) or last night (10 / 12 / 2.30 / 4.30/5/6.30) . At least he doesn’t normally get up until 8.30 so there are extra hours in the morning.

Ted swam again today which was brilliant – he went underwater again for a couple of ’swims’ and kicked and played and smiled throughout. I was hoping Ry could do some swimming with him in Ireland but I am not sure whether there is a pool as it says on the website it will be complete by the end of the year so it might be too soon.

Blog will most likely be quiet until I get back unless we can use the internet in the hotel – or at Patrick and Lisa’s house I might be able to do a quick update. Ciao

Little fingers stealing blanket

21 11 2007

Ted was interested to see the new baby – he soon progressed from just looking, to walking his little fingers towards Guy, before deciding that he rather fancies stealing Guys blanket!

Little Guy Gubbins – soooo small and soooo sweet

21 11 2007

guy-gubbins.jpg

We went to visit Suzanne today and little Guy – bless he is so small and sweet – he has a little jaundice tan like Teddy had and it took me right back. Ted was mildly curious about his new cousin – but I think he is more preoccupied with whats happening with his tooth and he has a bit of a cold too bless him. Zana is doing really well and looks great considering how soon it is after the birth and Guy is feeding well although rather frequently – but its like that breastfeeding until the milk comes in so I am sure in a day or so there will be more milk than he can manage. Looking forward to seeing more of the new addition when we come back from Ireland.

Ted gets busy with a rusk

21 11 2007

I gave Teddy a rusk the other day and he seemed to enjoy it, it almost made more mess than a pot of food and for a while he wasn’t sure what to do with it but he did get through the whole thing.

Teds first tooth

18 11 2007

The first corner of Teds first tooth is through his gum! Ry noticed today when Ted was gumming his finger that there was a little sharp corner and he is absolutely right there is a little hard tip of his first tooth coming through in the middle at the bottom. Bless him he has made no fuss so far and seems to be taking it all in his stride. I am both excited and getting that sense of how fast he is changing and growing! Still very proud of what a brave soldier he is being.

Congratulations Zana and Patrick on the arrival of baby Guy

18 11 2007

Quick one as we are about to go out for lunch but Ted has a new cousin, baby Guy Gubbins arrived this morning at 8.25am after a fairly quick (7 hours) but painful labour (waters broke early – I can relate to that!!). Premature but still 2.95 kilos – thats 6 pounds and 5 ounces it is a good job he arrived three weeks early – at full term he would have given Teddy a run for his money on the weight front – and god forbid he would have been late!! Its that Perryman gene for big babies I guess. We can’t wait to see him and Ted and I are planning a visit after swimming lesson on Wednesday so we can meet him before we go to Ireland for Mollys birthday party and some R&R. Many many congratulations to the Gubbins family we are remembering how exciting and terrifying and wonderful it is all at the same time. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That Friday feeling

16 11 2007

Had a great day today, took Teddy to Bumps and Babes this morning to socialise and have his picture taken as there was a professional photographer there. Then spent the afternoon in Kingston with Antia who needed to abit of last month maternity wear shopping. Mostly it was great to chat and shop and drink coffee. Ted was a diamond as always although his cough seems to be back as he has been coughing on and off for the last few days. He doesn’t have a fever though and it may be that it is to do with teething as he is drooling like mad and has alternate hot pink little cheeks. Has been a busy but good week with lots of socialising so it might be that we have been out and about too much so it is good we are going to Ireland next week so we can just relax without too much rushing around everywhere. We also have no plans for this weekend so I think we will just take it easy. I have a few chores and need to get things organised for Ireland packing as we are busy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and we fly early on Thursday.
