Ted had stellar day at nursery

31 03 2008

no tears, big love from the ladies who look after him – apparently he was cute and charming and hilarious doing all his tricks and silly faces. Ate all his meals and didn’t cry all day – he didn’t even cry this morning when I handed him over

happy day

might get round to pics tomorrow – had to do all accounts tonight :( off to bed now ready for another busy long day in the office tomorrow….. roll on thursday and swimming with our happy little man

so nice to see him back to his usual happy self

Busy weekend, Teds seemingly on the mend

30 03 2008

We have been busy – Wallington to check out some damp issues with our tenant there on Saturday and lunch with Patrick and Lisa and Molly and co today in central London so we have been all over town.

Ted is doing much better – no longer sounds like Ertha Kitt, but is still tugging at the ear from time to time so I am hoping that will cease by the time we finish the second lot of anti B’s on Thursday.

Am bracing myself for this weeks illness as he will be back at nursery for 3 days. Also am praying it doesn’t mess up his sleeping – which has been best ever since we got back from France – although he has needed some Medicet at bedtime for his throat and ears, although now on reduced dose.

I am expecting him to be abit upset tomorrow as he has been out for nearly 2 weeks, but hopefully he will settle back in ok. Hopefully I will too.

Have great pics of T on his little bike thingmy and at lunch today, will post over next day or so – at the moment am finally printing the pictures for his family book at nursery – they asked me for them weeks ago and I have only just managed to print them off, at least tomorrow I will be able to hand them over and the poor boy will finally have pics in his book. It also means we are set up to rpint at home now – thanks Ryan – so it won’t be such a pain next time.

Got to trim these pics and go to bed – am still going to bed early…. just in case!! even though he has slept through the last 4 nights, which is probably as many as he has slept through in the previous 9 months, I can’t feel comfortable that it is permenant just yet. But I can live in hope :)

12 hours – now I know he is unwell

28 03 2008

Ted is doing better, he slept for 12 hours last night and didn’t wake up all night, went down at 830pm and was chatting to lion at 715 when ry went in and got him. He had a bottle and then went back to sleep for 45 mins.

He had a good breakfast and has just been to bumps and babes and is now napping in the cot. Hopefully the anti biotics are helping with the ear infection and his throat definitely seems better – the drool situation is out of control and even when i try and make him wear a bib he just pulls it off. Still glad he is doing better.

I am going to have a cuppa and sort some laundry – non stop glamour….

Getting back to normal

27 03 2008

Been to the doctor for developmental check and all is normal – helath wise Ted has :

- an ear infection in his right ear – now on antibiotics … again, same infection just never quite cleared up last time

- a chest infection which is causing his sore throat – could be bacterial in which case the anti b’s will nuke it, or might be viral and clear up on its own

- a new tooth – we are now on the third top of the day – drool city

and has managed a net weight gain of only 5 ounces in the last month – largely on account of his levels of activity I think!

oh and he is unfeasibly tall – 77 cms which is 98th percentile

Given all this he seems quite chipper. We have managed a full supermarket shop which is great and a long nap in the car this morning while i ran errands and then I put him in his cot just now – awake and he screeched (the only upside of the sore throat is that the screeching is quiet) for 3 minutes and promptly went to sleep – I knew he was tired…..he had tried to doze off on me several times but always woke himself up. I did the same thing for his nap yesterday and maybe I am just going to have to do it that way – even when his screeching is back to normal volume.

I am off to make and drink a hot cup of tea while I have the chance and before the marathon which is giving Ted his tea starts when he wakes up.

Quick update – at least he is sleeping well

27 03 2008

Mr T abit brighter this morning, slept well last night and settled quickly mainly because ryan handled the shhing, patting and dummy replacement. Ry settled him both times he woke in the evening and then he slept through until 6 – which is good for him!!

Off to doctor for developmental check but also to find out whats wrong – he has a cough now so i think the throat has just been building up to that from a chest infection or similar.

I got nearly a full 8 hours so feel pretty good – although am bracing myself for a long day with commander demander at home.

Poor little mite

26 03 2008

Has just got over his ear infection, has his eighth tooth come through, has had his routine turned upside down, has been bundled off to nursery, seems to be going through his separation anxiety phase, and now has a very sore sounding hoarse throat and a huge amount of drool.

He went into nursery this morning as he seemed much brighter and slept through last night – in fact he seemed pretty excited to find himself in his own bed this morning surrounded by old friends, but when I called to check up on him at 11 he was apparently not very happy and had been crying alot which was irritating his throat so I went off to get him and we came home for the day.

He has a nine month development check tomorrow (a month late I know but they don;t send a reminder) so we have an appointment to see a doctor and hopefully they will say its just a virus and that it will clear up soon.

Meanwhile Ry and I are trying to get back on top of everything at home, I left laundry when we went away so theres a mountain of that to do, the dishwasher leaked while we were away so we are having to figure that out, theres no food in the house so a supermarket shop is in order – but Ted is not supermarket compliant when poorly so that might have to be a late night one, we have to go to one of the flats on saturday to look at a damp issue, i am woefully behind at work as working a short week and taking on a new job is all quite challenging…..

now ted has woken up and is crying and he has only been down for an hour….. life is pretty tough at the moment – got to go

Bang goes the routine

24 03 2008

and with it any chance of a decent nights sleep, thank god for the lie ins in the morning – although last night was a shocker with the wee man awake from 12 til 3.30 and then would only go to sleep in with me. He has cut his 8th tooth whilst we have been here and that may have been bothering him, but mostly I think its the change of location, bedtime routine, people and so on that has meant he has been confused at bedtime and when he wakes in the night.

Granny has been taking him any time after 6 but unfortunately because the nights have been so bad he has been sleeping in til 7.30 most mornings anyway….. tonight I am off with ear plugs to the top of the house and Granny is doing night duty so I can get one good night. Bless that woman.

Other than the sleeping we have had a lovely time, all very low key, a few walks, some good meals and Ry and I have been able to have dinner together alone and lunch tomorrow. Ted has been a riot – despite not sleeping well he is such a little character its easy to forgive the long nights with such cheery days.

Off to bed to make the most of my night off – if it goes well and I manage to sleep through I might start sleeping in the loft at home and leave Ry to it once a week…. food for thought.

Back home tomorrow night – will no doubt be a wierd one as we are on an evening crossing and won’t be home til midnight so Ted will be really out of sync, then have busy day at work on Wednesday so need to try and get through it and then get him back into normal routine from Wednesday night.

Holiday….. finally

20 03 2008

We are in France.

No sleep last night but this afternoon I had a hot bath and a long nap while Dad and Ry took Ted out to see the boat and have a beer!

Last night we were in Godalming and Ted ended up in with me from midnight which meant neither of us slept brilliantly, but since I knew we would be here with support now it didn’t seem to be so much of a problem. He was brilliant on the journey and we had a very easy drive to Portsmouth and ferry crossing – big help to have Granny W for assistance.

Having had a sleep I am mow trying to get on top of my admin for life, the tenants and work which all seem a little out of control at the moment, we need to get various jobs scheduled at home, one of the tenants found mushrooms growing in a cupboard?! and one of the other flats needs to be checked to ensure the developer completed all the snagging tasks, I have a list as long as my arm of things I need to do at work and notes from 3 weeks worth of meetings that are full of actions I need to get on with, and I am too busy and tired to deal with any of it….. if I can at least get organised with a plan of action that will make me feel alot better.

Had wonderful lunch on arrival and Grandpa is cooking a steak supper which is something to look forward to, then early night with a book seems like it will set us up for a good day tomorrow pottering around and perhaps getting in some sea air!

Hopefully Ted will settle nicely tonight and sleep ok. I would settle for ok!!

3 days and counting

17 03 2008

until we go on holiday, thats how I felt this morning and now its 2 days to go …. as Ryan says I don’t think we have ever needed a holiday as much as we need this one and its only a 5 day trip, but it will just be so nice to get away from the house, and work and routine and do something different.

Ted was apparently really cheeky at nursery today – a proper little character so a) he is clearly feeling better and b) he is clearly now chilled enough about it to come into his own. I am really pleased as it means I can really feel like he is settling in and enjoying his time and the interactions he has there. Also means he is super tired when he gets home – he was asleep in the car on the way home but I woke him up and kept him up til 8 then he went out like a light – thats an hour earlier than normal – now just have to hope he doesn’t wake up at 5 instead of 6!

Just in case I am off to bed – we had a short night last night and I will need to pack tomorrow night so must make the most of the 50 minutes that are left before I really should be asleep.
